Basically comparing the parts of an organism to determine their position, relationship, structure and function relative to other organisms.
Explanation: You have probably seen charts where the bone structure of a chimpanzee?s hand is compared with the bone structure of a bat?s wing, a whale?s flipper and a human hand. You can SEE that the structure of each of these is quite similar. Next you are given a story for what you SEE. If this story seems to make sense and it comes from a source you personally consider to be credible (good), you will probably accept the story as being true, although:
?Any story sounds true until someone tells the other side and sets the record straight.? (Proverbs 18:17, Living)
Is there another story?
Answer: Yes, God designed all these.
Explanation: Man attaches a bear skin to the opening of his cave. This doesn?t work very well, so he invents a door of some type. Now he gets really tired of having to kick the door down every time he wants to leave his cave, plus he has to make another door. Soooooooo, he invents a ?hinge?. Great idea!! Now this guy?s married and his wife wants a box to put her jewelry in. He makes her a jewelry box and wants her to be able to get her things in and out of it without smashing and remaking it each time. Sooooooo, he modifies the hinge idea and comes up with a hinge suitable for the box.
Would there be some similarity between the door hinge and the jewelry box lid hinge?
Answer: Yes, because the basic idea (design) was a good one.
Now let?s say you have a chimpanzee that needs to be able to peel a banana, pick a scab, and keep his nose clean and a little boy that needs to be able to do the same; might there be similarity of design?
Answer: Yes
What is it that enables the bat to be able to make such quick changes in direction while in flight?
Answer: A portion of this has to do with the wonderful design of the wing to include its? bone structure.
What enables a huge blue whale (up to 105? in length) to be able to move ever so gracefully through the sea?
Answer: The wonderful design of the whale to include the flipper and its? bone structure. The flipper is not some club beating the water, but an intrically and wonderfully designed mechanism for propelling this beautiful creation of God ever so gracefully.
?But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
(Job 12:7-9, NIV)
