What is your problem? There is no evidence that there was a world wide flood. Does not lack of evidence lead you to think that perhaps it never happened?

I guess I sort of got this topic changed, from the age of the earth to Noah's flood.

Perhaps we should go back to the original issue. The age of the earth. Science tells us the earth is 4.5 billion years old. How old does Dr. Nay think it is? How old does SGStrong think it is? Non-Biblical evidence please. Thanks

I remember watching the debate at the United Nations when the IRAQI ambasador said something like we can't show you what we don't have. This with referndce to WMD's.
Jukia says somehing didn't happen. It's hard to prove something didn't happen.
Doc and SGStrong maintain it did happen. How do they know? The Bible says so. So if the Bible says it happened there must be some evidence that geologists, paleontologists, archaeologists and anthropologist agree demonstrate in their respective fields that it happened. I think that is all Jukia is asking for.
For the record, I think the Bible is inspired and the New Testament is the sufficient rule for faith and practice for Christians.
I think the creative process was revealed to Moses and maybe all of Israel of the exodus generation over a six or seven day period in much the same way that John received the Revelation at the other end of the Book.

Skeptic Que: Nice post. But I am afraid that the vast (read that as almost 100%) of science sees NO evidence of a world wide flood within the last 10,000 years. The only people who buy that are those who let their faith cloud their reason.

Again, to get back to the original topic. I understand the science to tell me that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. And the response from those who disagree--with non-Biblical evidence---is?

What, no response? Come on guys, what is the age of the earth, provide some science to back up your estimate, real science, not some Biblical counting the generations nonsense.

While we are waiting can I ask you a question about your understanding of the Bible?
When in the narrative does the Bible become historical?
Abraham?
Moses and the exodus?
Joshua?
David?
Daniel?
The Maccabees?
Jesus?
When does it move from" the Genesis story is a broad outline of God's interaction with man. It sets the stage but is not meant to be a science text. It was an oral tradition among a nomad people who were trying to make sense of themselves and the world." to telling what acually happened to real live people in that world?

I am not sure when it becomes historical. I understand that there are extra-Biblical historical records that confirm some of the occurrences and personalities in the Bible. Some of the kings for example. I believe Jesus to be an historical figure, although I am led to believe that there are few contemporary extra-Biblical references to him. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong on that count.

However, it is clear that the Genesis story is not historically accurate. The earth is much older. people did not live 100's and 100's of years, there was no world wide flood. There is simply no evidence for that, and in terms of the age of the earth there is overwhelming evidence that the earth is billions of years old.

So much for this controversial topic.
